About us:
Gladstone Hospital is a 70-bed hospital and offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedic, clinical investigation, obstetrics, maternity, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology and paediatrics. Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service, oral health, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech pathology and outreach/community-based facilities.
Gladstone Hospital has approximately 282 full time equivalent staff delivering services across acute, community and primary care. The Staff Specialist positions at the Gladstone Hospital are supported by a team of Senior and Junior Medical Officers in each specialty department. Gladstone Hospital also has full time specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine, Surgery and Paediatrics.
About the role:
The Staff Specialist will provide safe, high quality anaesthetic clinical services and assist in the provision of direction, service planning and clinical governance to the Anaesthetic Team, Pre-Admission Clinic and the High Dependency Unit. Oversight of unit staff including GP Anaesthetists will be a part of the role.
Provision of the full range of anaesthetic services including general and regional anaesthesia, obstetric services including epidural/spinal anaesthesia.
This position will also participate in the out of hours on call roster that covers the Gladstone Hospital.
About you:
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Anaesthesia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). In general, this will require Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CPD program of appropriate College.
- MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- If applicant does not hold FANZCA, then their application must be accompanied by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists assessment of their specialist qualification and requirements to attain FANZCA.

Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $428,444 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $210,332 - $244,313 p.a. (L18-L24)
- A salary rate between $251,527 - $266,677 p.a. (L25-L27)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
