KWCC Program

The Women’s Shelter (Crisis Accommodation Centre) is one of the vital programs of the organisation, operating 7 days a week 24 hours a day and provides supported crisis accommodation to women & their children escaping domestic/family and sexual violence.

The Centre aims to enrich women’s lives by supporting their individual choices, through healing, support, case management, psychoeducation, advocacy and empowerment, and provides the following services:

1. 48 hours crisis response
2. Supported crisis accommodation
3. Risk assessment and safety planning
4. Case management
5. Psycho education on domestic, family and sexual violence
6. Advocacy

The work schedule for this position is a rolling 7 day roster system, consisting of day, late afternoon and night shifts.

As a Domestic, Family, Sexual Violence Case Worker, you will have

1. Diploma or higher education in Community Services or related field, or relevant experience
2. Case management experience
3. Demonstrated understanding of risk assessments and safety planning
4. Effective interpersonal communication skills
5. Strong advocacy skills
6. Sound knowledge of domestic, family and sexual violence and its impact on victim/survivor, children and community
7. Knowledge of culturally appropriate case management support from a client-centred, strengths-based, trauma- informed approach.

This role requires you to be resilient, practice non-judgement, have empathy, and walk alongside the women and children.
