30 hr week
Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre is a strong community-based, child safe compliant organisation, and a leader in the provision of services and programs within the areas of the Richmond Valley and surrounding locations, including NDIS, youth, aged care, family support, flood recovery, volunteering, Emergency Relief and more.
The MRNC Youth Team works with Young People in both group and one-on-one settings to support their social, personal and physical development through informal education and mentoring.
Duties include the planning and implementing of youth programs to support Young People to build their self-confidence, life skills, social & community connection and positive mental health as well as providing one-one-one case management services including advocacy, support and referrals.
The Centre has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, enthusiastic, Youth Worker to join our team based in Evans Head and working within the Mid Richmond area.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Qualifications:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services, or currently studying.
Experience:
- Experience in a similar role.
Core Requirements:
- Demonstrated capacity to engage and support young people with complex needs, their families and community, in order to support young people’s engagement with community and services.
- Demonstrated experience working within a strengths-based framework and trauma-informed practice.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experience in the youth sector including providing advocacy, support and referral pathways.
- Demonstrated capacity to create and maintain professional relationships with external services and organisations.
- Abide by the Child Safe Standards prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of children and Young People.
- Demonstrated capacity to facilitate and implement regional programs, networking and interagency meetings.
- Ability to provide a range of flexible programs and activities which successfully engage and support young people.
- Demonstrated experience in completing case notes, data entry and funding applications.
- Specialist skills and/ or experience developing and implementing recreational, creative or educational programs is highly desirable.
- Ability to work flexible hours including afternoons, evenings and School Holidays.
- Must have a current drivers license.
- Successful applicant will have to complete an NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working With Childrens check and First Aid Accreditation.
