Your Next Opportunity
As a Senior Database & Middleware Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to support the Department's ICT systems, ensuring the integrity, security, availability, and performance of database systems.
Your core responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Installing, managing and maintaining middleware products and supporting databases to ensure security, performance, integrity and recoverability
- Designing and implementing appropriate application middleware hosting environments to support development, testing, training and production activities
- Participating in formulating and maintaining technical standards
- Providing technical support for middleware and database issues
- Working with ICT teams to implement and support inter-application interfaces and integration with hosting platforms
- Managing, preparing and maintaining high-quality documentation to support the operations of middleware support services and corporate application hosting.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
To qualify, you will need demonstrated, high-level experience in the delivery of middleware administration services using Microsoft SQL Server, and associated tools and technologies.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science or Information Technology, etc)
- Experience with administrating corporate applications on Microsoft Windows Server, Unix server or Azure IaaS
- Proficiency in Apache Web Server, IIS applications, Wildfly/Java Application Server, Apache Tomcat
- Advanced knowledge of contemporary project management practices
- Highly developed research, analytical, evaluation and reporting skills
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills and the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively
You will possess a proactive work style, and the ability to manage yourself and others to deliver high-quality outcomes or complex problem-solving in line with our strategic direction.
Whilst applications from software developers with system administration skills will be well received, it's important to note this role focuses on supporting applications as opposed to developing them, so should. be comfortable with this.
