About the Role

As a Team Leader at Hough Gardens, you will be responsible for managing a team of horticulturists and ensuring high-quality garden maintenance. You will work closely with clients, provide expert horticultural care, and lead by example to maintain the gardens to an exceptional standard. You will also play a key role in training apprentices and staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of garden maintenance, including hedging, pruning, implementing IPDM and ferrtilising programs.
• Identify garden issues (such as pests, diseases, and soil deficiencies) and implement effective solutions.
• Lead and mentor a team, ensuring productivity, training, and high standards of work.
• Train apprentices and staff, providing guidance and hands-on learning opportunities.
• Encourage development within the business by fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.
• Manage client relationships, providing professional advice and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Ensure safety protocols and best horticultural practices are followed.

About You

• Qualified horticulturist with relevant certifications.
• Strong expertise in hedging, pruning, plant care, and problem-solving in gardens.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and delegating tasks.
• Experience working in prestigious gardens in Melbourne, with an eye for detail and premium garden care.
• Passion for training and developing apprentices and staff.
• Willingness to encourage growth and development within the business.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• A proactive and hands-on approach to work.
• ChemCert training is highly desirable and will support your success in this role.
