ASMIRT Education Technologist

ASMIRT is establishing a new, online educational platform. The core functions are the development of educational programs and resources that embrace innovation, optimise technology and evaluate the education for impact.

To facilitate this, ASMIRT is looking to recruit one or more Education Technologist/s to develop these programs and resources to meet the needs of the platform ands of Members. Whilst the position is a full time equivalent role, we are keen to recruit several different Education Technologists on a part time basis. This will enable the successful applicants to maintain connection with their current roles whilst utilising pre-existing and new content to develop learning activities of the new platform. They will work under the guidance of the ASMIRT Director of Education and Education Manager. These activities may include technology-enhanced learning methods, such as online modules, interactive courses and education research.

The position is open to applicants working anywhere in Australia as it can be largely completed remotely. The successful applicant/s will work closely with the ASMIRT Education Team to identify priority areas of work and may contribute their own content to the team. They will be supported by expertise on the team, as well as through the online education platform provider to develop the activities, according to the team’s needs.

  1. Key responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Education and Education Manager, the Education Technologist will work closely with the Education Team. They will collaborate with content contributors and online education platform providers. The scope of the role will depend on the individual’s time fraction, clinical experience and organisational needs.

  1. Research and knowledge transfer
  • Utilise content to develop online courses, modules and/or programs with e-learning platform software for use within the ASMIRT online learning management system.
  • Identify the opportunity for and/or support implementation of new education initiatives or projects
  • Participate in professional development related to Health Professional Education, use of technology and system upgrades. This may include presentations and attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops.
  1. Service and leadership
  • Support the evaluation of course content
  • Support delivery of education and knowledge transfer through web-based applications or other multimedia applications
  • Contribute to the knowledge engagement activities of ASMIRT including promotion of platform content
  • Attend ASMIRT team meetings and other working groups relevant to their scope of work as appropriate either on line or face to face
  • Participate in staff development activities

  • ASMIRT membership for at least the previous two (2) consecutive years
  • An accredited qualification in one of the Medical Radiation Science professions (Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine)
  • Enthusiasm, experience and commitment to provide quality clinical education
  • Demonstrated innovative methods of providing education
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact positively and communicate effectively and in a timely manner with clinical and ASMIRT colleagues and support staff
  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve excellent educational outcomes
  • Current or recent employment as a clinical educator within one of the Medical Radiation Science professions
  • Enrolment in or completion of post graduate training in Clinical Education or a related field
  • The final scope of the role will be determined by the individual’s time fraction. The activities for which the incumbent will be responsible for will be determined in conjunction with ASMIRT according to work priorities
  • Working remotely can be negotiated, with the occasional requirement to work at the ASMIRT Secretariat for meetings and collaboration
  • Work outside usual hours may be negotiated for certain activities
