As our Laboratory Equipment Specialist, you will work with specialist equipment and instrumentation to ensure availability, quality control and accessibility for medical researchers. This position requires a high level of teamwork and strong collaborative skills. Ideally, candidates should have experience in flow cytometry, microscopy, histology, and animal imaging. Excellent technical skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment are essential.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Provide high level support to a wide range of laboratory equipment, including imaging systems flow cytometry and histology.
- Deliver practical training to both The Kids and external users.
- Provide high level support in basic methodology and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Set up, calibrate and maintain equipment according to experimental requirements.
- Advise and assist in experiment design, sample preparation and protocol development.
The role in full time and based within our modern laboratory facilities at The Kids Institute in Nedlands. The remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
About you
You will be a highly energetic, self-motivated individual committed to training and educating laboratory users, while providing advice and support.
The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:
- Demonstrated experience in working in a medical research laboratory with an understanding of flow cytometry, microscopy, and other general laboratory research equipment.
- Skills in analysis and critical problem-solving including data analysis, statistical reporting, and research methodologies, to draw accurate conclusions within the context of scientific research and the Institute’s research strategy.
- A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals to achieve desired outcomes.
- High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
While experience in the field of flow cytometry and imaging is preferred, we will provide additional training to the right candidate who is eager to learn and has a keen interest in laboratory technologies.
