The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an experienced DevOps Lead to provide a critical role within Technology Solutions and Data Security.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

Technology Solutions and Data Security focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.

Technology Solutions and Data Security explores and employs technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and oversees the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex.

About the Role

This role will be assigned to work on large projects / programs within DJCS and is the role is responsible for designing and leading the implementation of DevOps capabilities to better support the development and operational teams in building and supporting their products in an effective manner.

The DevOps Lead is one of the most highly leveraged members of our team and are responsible for delivering solutions that enable the rapid delivery of products to customers in a consistent and reliable manner and providing the supporting capabilities everyone relies upon.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience working on large ICT transformation programs planning, designing and leading DevOps CI/CD implementations, including architecting the DevOps tooling landscape, cloud platforms and infrastructure automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery, test automation, statistics and monitoring leading to successful ICT development and operational improvements.
  • Significant, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of DevOps best practices and tools, as well as knowledge of new or emerging technologies and their potential value to the organisation. Experience in tools such as GIT, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, AWS, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, Terraform, Ansible, Selenium, Katalon, AWS CodeArtifact etc. Solid experience managing cross functional teams and strategic partners including overseeing key deliverables.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in leading/utilising/participating in iterative, incremental and agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, ScrumBan, SAFe).
  • Significant management and leadership skills in delivering continuous service and product improvement, utilising demonstrated DevOps skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in ICT is desirable and demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
