What is the Position?

Our Logan is actively recruiting for a Local Area Coordinator – Community Partnerships (Multicultural Communities) role. The role will deliver the NDIS LAC program by working with a broad cross section of community from people with disability who have an NDIS plan; to connecting with specific sectors of the community to support access to the NDIS for hard to reach groups; and link individuals with disability who are not eligible for or interested in accessing the NDIS to mainstream and community supports, services and activities. Your experience in multicultural communities and understanding the value and benefit of applying inclusive cross-cultural practices across our communities and workplaces will provide NDIS education, connections and support to assist people with disability, families and carers to build their capacity for social and economic participation, and to improve community inclusion.

Our LAC – Community Partnerships position work together with our front-line LAC’s, serving the community by delivering the NDIS LAC PITC program:

  • To deliver this role you will draw on your experience working with communities and your understanding of the value and benefit of applying inclusive practices across our communities and workplaces.
  • Your work will provide education, connections and support to improve inclusion in the community, and to assist people with disability, families and carers to build their capacity to participate in their community.
  • The position works in collaboration with the Community Projects Team, Team Leaders and Practice Leads across the program for the creation and implementation of high-quality community engagement and capacity building processes that will improve outcomes for people with disability, support best practice, enhance our customers’ experience and strengthen the delivery of the Local Area Coordination Partner in the Community Program.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver community capacity building projects that provide education, connection and support to assist people with disability, families and carers to build their capacity for social and economic participation, and to improve community inclusion.
  • Building and strengthening the capacity of people with disability (both NDIS participants and non-participants), their families and carers, as well as councils, business and community sectors, and governments.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching support to lead best practice in working with the community, in a considered and consistent approach to service delivery.

Do you have?

  • Qualifications in Disability, Community Development, Education, Human Services or similar?
  • High-level communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to build rapport quickly and adapt skills according to the audience or target group involved?
  • Demonstrated ability to follow process and systems while being adaptable to the ever-changing landscape of our community and their needs?
  • Demonstrated experience working in the human services sector?
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking a range of community capacity building activities to assist communities to reach a desired outcome?
  • Strong decision-making skills including the ability to analyse need and measure risk?
