Our client is a leading Australian not for profit organisation.
Position
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the day to day financial processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity of the organisation’s financial statements. The work assigned to this critical role must be handled with a high degree of accuracy and is subject to multiple audit and NFP compliance obligations. Responsibilities include:
- Processing all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, and entering all bank transactions ensuring proper recording
- Ensuring accuracy by performing regular reconciliations of bank accounts, ledgers, and other financial records
- Managing staff credit cards
- Performing periodic general accounting procedures including, but not limited to: income recognition, leave provisions, lease accounting, investment revaluations and depreciation
- Generating accurate and timely financial statements
- Ensuring compliance with relevant federal and state government legislation (e.g. payroll tax exemptions, self-assessment, workers compensation)
- Preparing BAS and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and other statutory requirements
- Assisting external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding financial transactions and processes
- Supporting finance projects as required
Profile
- Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with local tax regulations, financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong focus on accuracy and precision in financial reporting and analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders (management, auditors, regulatory authorities, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach
- Self-motivated, as well as work well in a team environment
- A strong ethical foundation and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
Benefits
- 3-6 month contract, transition to a permanent role with NFP salary packaging.
- c$400 per day plus superannuation
- Hybrid flexibility - work from office 1 - 2 days a week, central location.
