As a Manager, Right to Information and Privacy in the Legal Services team, you'll be responsible for the management and administration of the department's compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) and the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) (RTI Act).

Here's what we're looking for:
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in adherence to the provisions of the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).
• Skills and ability to apply and interpret legislation including relevant decision-making processes.
• Skills and ability to manage competing priorities, deliver quality work outcomes and ensure legislative needs are achieved within scheduled scope and timeframe.
• Ability to communicate the application of privacy principles in simple terms, including developing and delivering training.
• Experience in privacy impact assessments with respect to metadata and technology data holdings would be highly regarded, given the work of the department
• Accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence and transparency.
• High standard of practice through governance and risk management.
As part of this role, you will:
• Work collaboratively with business areas to ensure the department is prepared for the implementation and ongoing management of requirements for the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (Qld).
• Manage requests for legislative and non-legislative access to the department's information and documents, including by subpoena and non-party disclosure and the Public Service Regulation 2008 (Qld).
• Promote understanding of, and compliance with, privacy principles and how the IP Act impacts on the department, provide best practice leadership and advice, and develop and deliver privacy and RTI training to departmental staff.
• Support business areas with the tools required to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, identify and address privacy risk and mitigation strategies, provide advice on more complex assessments and prepare documentation as needed.
• Manage complaints to achieve resolution where possible under the IP Act, and lead the management of complaints that are reviewed externally.
• Foster relationships with key internal and external privacy stakeholders, including the Office of the Information Commissioner.
• Provide advice to departmental officers, Ministerial office and members of the public on the IP Act, RTI Act and other information access practices and procedures within the department.
• Contribute to the review of administrative procedures, policies and tools affected by the IP Act, RTI Act and other relevant legislation with a view to recommending and implementing improvements.
• Manage records in accordance with the Public Records Act 2023 (Qld) and associated standards and policies.
