The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Medical Decision Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Report clinical incidents and near misses to improve patient safety and identify areas for service improvement
• Maintain awareness of current advances and research, and uses educational opportunities, to maintain the highest standards
• Act as a mentor, fostering a supportive working environment and staff morale
• Be involved in staff appraisal, performance and clinical supervision to ensure personal professional development
• Lead and support staff, through role modelling and maintaining a positive culture

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent part time (48 – 64 hours per fortnight)
• Base salary ranging from $54.44 - $58.30 per hour

About Us

The Medical Decision Unit is a Nurse Led Model which provides rapid assessment of internal medical patients presenting to the Gold Coast University Hospital, Emergency Department by the General Internal Medical team. This model limits unnecessary investigations and multiple internal referrals to inpatient medical teams by providing early assessment and review by senior clinicians.
