Stepping Stone House is a not-for-profit charity that provides accommodation and personal development for children and young people aged 12-25 years old who through no fault of their own find themselves at risk of homelessness or unable to live at home. We have a foundation of building resilience through outdoor education and activities.

As a successful4case worker, you will possess:
- A solid understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.

What you will be doing – Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a case-load of up to 6 young people with complex needs.
- Develop, implement and review case management plans and exit plans in line with DCJ and OCG standards.
- Collaborative creation of behavioural support and intervention plans and support the young people’s emotional and psychological growth as determined by their therapeutic and strength based individualised case management plans.
- Create an environment that facilitates learning, growth and change.
- Uphold the standards of care and the rights of young people as per Standards of Care
- Acting as an advocate for young people and facilitate meetings with external stakeholders to meet the needs of young people
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in relevant social sciences (eg social work, psychology). Further relevant qualifications would be desirable.
- At least 2 years’ experience of case work within Out of Home Care
- Demonstrated evidence of working with young people with complex needs and the strategies used
- Demonstrated experience and/ or understanding of Trauma Informed Care and willingness to work within a therapeutic framework.
- Demonstrated skills in negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution, difficult conversations and engagement with the young people to achieve positive outcomes
- Demonstrated skills and experience in designing, implementing and reviewing of case management strategies and case plans.
- Knowledge of legislative, governance and accreditation requirements for residential services
- In depth understanding of trauma based issues impacting young people in the Out of Home Care
- Working with Children Check certification
- Effective management of relationships with external stakeholders
- Ability to be on call after hours and on weekends on a rotating roster
- Working with Children Check.
- A Valid Driver's License.
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
Remuneration
The position will be paid at SCHADS Level 5 – Pay Point dependent on experience and qualification level.
