Our client, a privately-owned Australian company, boasts over 20 years of industry experience. They have expanded into a leading diversified property group, with a robust portfolio of investments and developments spanning Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. Their projects range from residential precincts and retail centres to prestigious hotels and luxury apartment buildings. Due to their continued growth, they are now looking to bolster their Finance team by adding a Tax Manager to their offices, located in the bustling precinct of Coburg with parking close by and public transport also handy.
Your new role
Reporting to the Group Treasurer and working closely with the wider finance team, you will be responsible for a diverse range of duties including stakeholder management, project involvement and implementing risk mitigation strategies for tax compliance and governance.
Key responsibilities for the role will include, but not be limited to:
- Providing advice to the business, with regard to the tax implications of proposed decisions
- Reviewing and collating the consolidated tax return
- Managing the tax function including compliance and advisory work associated with income tax, GST, FBT, R&D, and withholding tax
- Managing the preparation of Australian income tax returns, FBT returns and BAS
- Assessing tax risk frameworks
- Trust accounting
- Tax reporting
- Documenting processes and implementing improvements and changes
- Managing the tax effect accounting for inclusion in the statutory financial statements
- Implement risk mitigation strategies
- Driving process improvements and streamlining reports and systems
What you'll need to succeed
As a CA/CPA qualified senior Tax professional, you will bring proven experience within the property/real estate industry. Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders are essential. You will possess advanced knowledge in tax compliance, governance, and advisory services. A robust understanding of trust exposure is critical for success in this pivotal role.
