Talent International is currently recruiting for an APS6 Strategic Communications Officer x 3 to work for one of our Federal Government clients based in Surry Hills. The position is a 12-month contract role with the possibility of extension. The role pays $60.26/hr + Super.

7.6 hours per day and 38 hours per week

The APS6 Senior Strategic Communications Officer is a team leadership position within the client and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities. The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision-making for the team membership within the work area.

The position is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, and operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the client's objectives.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrating exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Championing plain English and ensuring all collateral is accessible and aligns with the NDIS style and branding guidelines.
  • Leading through example, serving as a trusted communications expert, 7and helping key internal stakeholders and business partners deliver the objectives of each project.
  • Drafting clear, concise and effective messaging for different audiences, including creation of talking points and speeches
  • Contributing towards developing and delivering different communications plans, progressing approvals and coordination of go-live collateral.
  • Identifying and developing important internal stakeholder relationships, addressing and resolving any emerging challenges with stakeholders.
  • Evaluating the impact of communications, identifying any future learnings and determining whether the identified objectives for each project have been achieved.
  • Supporting team members with administration, technical and procedural tasks.

Essential criteria:

  • Leading through example, serving as a trusted communications expert, and helping key internal stakeholders and business partners deliver the objectives of each project.
  • Demonstrating exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Contributing towards developing and delivering different communications plans, progressing approvals and coordination of go-live collateral.
  • Identifying and developing important internal stakeholder relationships, addressing and resolving any emerging challenges with stakeholders.
  • Drafting clear, concise, and effective messaging for different audiences.
  • Preparing high-quality, clear, and accessible written content that meets the needs of participants and other audiences and aligns with the NDIS brand.
  • Scanning and interpreting a complex government and social landscape to identify and mitigate reputational risks.

Desirable criteria:

  • NDIS knowledge - Understanding of the NDIS and its impact on participants and providers.
  • Government/public sector experience - Work within government and public sector processes.
  • Issues management - Identify, manage, and respond to sensitive or high-risk communication issues.
