Are you a culinary enthusiast eager to craft delightful dishes in a vibrant café setting? One Table Café, a cherished part of Churches of Christ, is on the lookout for a dedicated and passionate Café Cook to bring our kitchen to life.
Role Overview
As a Café Cook, you'll be the heart of our kitchen, responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals that keep our patrons coming back for more. Your role extends beyond the stove; you'll ensure our kitchen remains a safe, clean, and inviting space, and you'll play a pivotal part in guiding and mentoring our café staff and trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Culinary Creation: Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes, ensuring each plate meets our high standards of taste and presentation.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Keep the kitchen spotless and organized, maintaining all equipment, appliances, and utensils in top condition.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, coordinate with suppliers, and manage orders to ensure the kitchen is always well-stocked.
- Team Leadership: Assist in supervising and training café staff and school-based trainees, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including meal counts and equipment temperatures, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Proven experience in commercial food preparation and cooking.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene practices and kitchen safety standards.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Outlook and internet browsers.
- Ability to obtain a current National Police Certificate.
Desirable:
- Certified Barista Course or relevant experience.
- Experience in supervising and training junior kitchen staff or trainees.
