The Opportunity

Doomadgee State School is seeking an experienced and passionate educational leader to step into the role of Principal.

Doomadgee State School participates in the Partnership Initiative and receives prioritised support and resourcing to provide locally responsible, flexible, integrated and tailored strategies co-designed with community.

In recognition of the complexities and the critical role the Principal at Doomadgee State School plays in shaping the future of its students, this position is remunerated at a Level 7 salary through the special purpose classification uplift.

The School

Doomadgee State School is located within the Department's North Queensland education region. The school's approximately 330 students with diverse learning needs and interests across Prep to Year 10 and State Delivered Kindy program are provided with access to a curriculum that allows them to reach their own individual potential.

The Community

Doomadgee is a culturally proud community, a short one-hour flight from the major hub of Mt Isa and is nestled in native title land, and the traditional homelands of the Gangalidda, Waanyi, Garrawa and Yunjulla people.

Under the current Partnership Initiative special purpose classification uplift, this substantive Level 5 position has received a top-up to be remunerated as a Level 7. This special purpose classification level uplift arrangement is intended to retain and attract school leaders who can drive improvements in learning and life outcomes through a system wide approach within Partnership Initiative schools and their communities. Candidates who are willing to commit to a minimum of three years in the role and community will be highly regarded. If the successful school leader is currently located interstate or working in the Queensland non-state schooling sector they will be offered permanent employment with the Queensland Department of Education.
