About Blue Tongue Adventure
At Blue Tongue Adventure, we are all about fun, learning, and building relationships and social skills for young people with disabilities. Our programs are designed by young people, for young people, offering a wide range of exciting and engaging activities to promote confidence and personal growth. From sports and outdoor adventures to art workshops, culinary experiences, and woodwork skills, no two days are ever the same with the Blue Tongue crew.
We also support School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES), helping young participants gain independence, develop job-readiness skills, and transition into the workforce.
This Exciting Role
We are looking for a Social Worker who will be based at our Toowoomba location on a permanent Full-Time basis.
As a Social Worker, you will be working across the Blue Tongue Adventure program and supporting young people transitioning from school to employment (SLES). You’ll need to be fun, energetic, bubbly, and able to connect with youth in a dynamic and engaging way!
In this role, you will also take on responsibilities in:
- Youth Work – Supporting young participants in building independence, social skills, and confidence to transition successfully into adulthood.
- Employment Support – Assisting participants with resume building, interview preparation, and job-readiness training as part of the School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program.
- Community Engagement – Collaborating with families, educators, and community organizations to create meaningful opportunities for participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised and supportive counselling to young participants.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the unique needs and aspirations of each individual.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on participants’ progress, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement customised intervention plans.
- Support and empower young participants in building their social skills, relationships, and confidence.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of young people with disabilities, both within the program and in the community.
- Keep stakeholders and families informed about participants’ progress, achievements, and challenges.
- Monitor progress and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies.
- Assist participants in accessing external resources and services as needed.
- Ensure all interactions and interventions align with ethical and professional standards.
- Work closely with the School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program, supporting young participants in their journey towards employment and independence.
- Deliver youth work initiatives that focus on personal development, life skills, and social inclusion.
- Facilitate employment-related workshops to help participants build essential workplace skills.
- Engage with community and industry partners to create employment and training opportunities.
About You
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience working with young people with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with young participants in a fun, energetic, and engaging way.
- Knowledge of disability support services, the NDIS, and relevant legislation.
- Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach towards individuals with diverse abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
- Commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment.
- Experience in youth work and employment supports (SLES) is highly advantageous.
