Overview:
Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is working with local government to secure a Principal Engineer for this 6-month opportunity. This role leads the Maintenance Planning Section of the Road Maintenance Program.
The Maintenance Planning Section undertakes asset data collection and analysis, maintenance forward planning and development of maintenance programs and services, including budget development. The section also provides technical and contract support to the maintenance program, including development of specifications, standards and conducting audits of maintenance work undertaken by Council’s day labour workforce and Contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Road Maintenance Planning Section, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and business plans. Oversee staff training, recruitment, performance management, and succession planning.
• Monitor and control budgeted vs. actual costs for maintenance projects, while providing financial analysis and support in budget planning and service enhancements.
• Lead asset data collection, maintenance planning, program development, managing contractors, including tender preparation, contract administration, and compliance auditing.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) and eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (Queensland) under the Professional Engineers Act is mandatory
• Expert knowledge and application of road and drainage asset and/or programmed maintenance management and construction/maintenance principles and practices.
• Extensive experience leading and working as part of a high performing team to ensure achievement of outcomes
