The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our team on 3 - 5 year fixed-term basis.

Reporting to the Manager Infrastructure Projects & Assets, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the Town's capital works program through a combination of wet hire and contract services.

In 2021, the Town of Port Hedland embarked on an ambitious Long-Term Plan to develop over $800 million worth of infrastructure throughout Hedland. This visionary plan is now well underway, and is more than just building structures; it's about investing in our community's future and creating a place that professionals like you can truly call home. Strategic projects include the Hedland Sports and Arts Precinct - a $330 million project that will transform Hedland.

What We're Looking For

Due to the scale of works, our successful candidate will exhibit extensive experience in leading a project team, whilst also possessing the skills to work with Project Management software and be able to maintain relationships with various stakeholders. These stakeholders include community stakeholders, government departmemnts, contractors and fellow employees.

Attention to detail and accuracy are key within this role, therefore the successful candidate will be able to ensure that all projects are delivered to the specified function, scope, quality, safety and budgetary requirements in accordance with the terms and conditions of project agreements.

There is a leadership focus in this position - the Senior Project Manager is responsible for coaching, guiding and upskilling team members on areas such as risk management assessments, and ensuring the statutory requirements of the Town's internal Project Management frameworks.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Degree/ qualifications in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or extensive experience
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current 'C' class drivers license
  • Rights to work in Australia
