Position: Manager
Employment Type: Permanent Part/Full-Time (25 hours per week, Monday-Friday)
Classification: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (SCHCADS), Schedule 2B Community Development Worker, Level 7.1
Award: Neighbourhood Houses and Adult and Community Education Centres Collective Agreement, 2016
Location: 21 Bemersyde Rd. Berwick
Reports To: Committee of Governance (CoG)
Responsible For: All staff, work experience students, students in placement, contractors, and volunteers
About Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House
Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House (BPNH) is a vibrant, community-managed centre that provides programs and services to foster well-being, inclusion, and community engagement. As a not-for-profit incorporated association, BPNH operates under the governance of a volunteer Committee of Governance (CoG) and receives funding from various sources, including the Department of Families, Fairness & Housing (DFFH).
About the Role
The Manager is responsible for BPNH's day-to-day operations, strategic direction, and community engagement. This role requires strong leadership, financial oversight, and program development skills to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the community's needs.
Key Responsibilities
Management & Administration
- Foster a positive organisational culture that supports staff and volunteers’ professional development and well-being.
- Lead and oversee a team of staff, tutors, volunteers, and facilitators, managing their recruitment, induction, and ongoing development.
- Ensure effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and funding requirements, including Workplace Health & Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity policies.
- Maintain accurate data collection and reporting systems to support strategic planning.
Finance & Funding
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, reporting, audits, and financial record-keeping.
- Work with the CoG to secure funding to support short and long-term goals.
- Develop grant applications and funding proposals to secure additional resources.
Community Engagement & Marketing
- Represent BPNH as the chief spokesperson, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including local government, schools, and community organisations.
- Develop and implement programs and marketing strategies to increase awareness and participation in BPNH programs and events by 25 % before June 30th 2026.
- Advocate for issues relevant to BPNH and its community, attending relevant meetings and events.
Planning & Compliance
- Assist the CoG in strategic and operational planning, ensuring alignment with community needs and organisational objectives.
- Identify community needs and develop responsive programs and services.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and government requirements.
Governance
- Provide reports and advice to the CoG to support decision-making and governance.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of CoG members and volunteers.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrated understanding of the Neighbourhood House sector and community development principles.
- Minimum of five years of proven experience in planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating community programs.
- Strong ability to develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders.
- Experience in writing funding submissions, grant applications, and managing budgets.
- Leadership experience in a community-based organisation, including staff and volunteer management.
- Strong decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, financial systems, and social media for marketing and reporting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualification in Community Services, Welfare, Adult Education, or a related field.
- Experience in community services and committee development.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence, Police Check, and Working with Children Check.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
