This position works across a 24- hour roster and can involve day, evening, weekend, sleepover and overnight stand up work.

About the role:

This position is situated within the Two Bed Response Homes (TBER) in East, North, Southern and Western Metro regions of Victoria which is responsible for the provision of residential care. When there are no existing funded care placements available, the T-BER model provides safe short-term emergency accommodation for children and young people. These placements provide an important safety net for children who are needing to be accommodated in other forms of care which are to be identified as a matter of urgency for the young person. This can be because: · The child or young person requires a temporary short-term arrangement whilst a more permanent placement is identified the department places a high level of importance on keeping sibling groups together in care and, where and TBER can accommodate the sibling group in order to keep siblings together.

This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity based at our East and West VIC within our Two Bed Emergency Response Homes (TBER) Program. The position reports to the TBER Team Leader.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and out of home care), or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications. Applicants who do not hold the relevant qualifications must be enrolled and undertake to complete the applicable Cert IV within 12 months of commencement.
  • A current valid Victorian driver’s licence and be able to drive MacKillop vehicles in the conduct of the position requirements, including transportation of clients.
  • A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated empathy for the young people in our care in an open minded and nonjudgmental manner.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
