Cyber Security Engineer

• Initial 3 month contract
• In-depth knowledge of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and malicious code detection
• Hands-on experience with penetration testing and vulnerability management

The role:
We’re looking for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join a leading organisation and play a key role in securing critical systems. If you have a strong technical background in firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, penetration testing, and risk management, this could be your next career move! This is for an initial 3 month contract with possible extension.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensure security service delivery aligns with contractual KPIs and industry best practices.
• Identify, measure, and report on security metrics to ensure operational efficiency.
• Manage stakeholders, including hospital employees, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts, security risk assessments, and system optimizations.
• Implement and maintain security controls across ICT infrastructure.
• Support security governance, compliance, and risk management activities.
• Conduct security audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
• Perform incident response, threat detection, and proactive security monitoring.

Key Experience:

• Strong knowledge of firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and malware detection.
• Experience with security frameworks (e.g., ASD Essential 8, ISO 27001, NIST).
• Understanding of patch management, vulnerability mitigation, and risk assessments.
• Hands-on experience in security operations, including penetration testing and incident response.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

• ITIL Foundation Certification.
• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Security certifications (CCNP Security, CCIE Security, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent).
• Experience in healthcare or critical infrastructure security is an advantage.
