Our client is looking for a motivated and ambitious public practice accountant who is keen to join a boutique public practice firm and be a big part of their aggressive growth strategy for 2025 and beyond.

They’re open to remote candidates from Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne on the proviso that they’re happy to attend the Newcastle (NSW) office when required (potentially fortnightly or monthly).

Key to your success will be the ability to build rapport and deliver exceptional customer service and client experience - you will be personable, comfortable leading meetings on Teams or Zoom and know how to get the answers and information needed to assist our clients!

What You’ll Be Doing

• Client Accounting & Taxation: Prepare financial statements and tax returns (ITRs) for a range of clients, including SMBEs and SMSFs.
• Client Communication: Break down complex tax concepts and liaise with clients to ensure they feel empowered and informed.
• Team Collaboration: Help guide and mentor junior accountants, reviewing their work and fostering a positive, dynamic environment.
• Project Exposure: Assist Directors on diverse, high-level projects that will challenge and expand your skillset.
• Client Relationship Management: Build strong, lasting relationships with clients, ensuring top-notch service and satisfaction. On this note, there will be substantial face-to-face interactions (Teams or Zoom or Equivalent) with individual tax return, and small business clients during the busy tax period

What You Bring to the Table

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in public practice accounting (with at least 2 tax seasons) dealing specifically with the Australian Tax System
• Skills & Knowledge: Proficient in accounting software (Xero, MYOB, Reckon) and Microsoft Office. Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance.
• Communication: You’re a pro at explaining complex ideas in simple terms, tailoring your approach for different client needs.
• Team Player: A natural leader, you’ll help guide junior staff and foster collaboration within the team.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to tackle challenges and find solutions efficiently
