The opportunity:

To construct and/or maintain Council's road network and other assets to required service level standards through the provision of skilled Plant operations and Labourer support. This position will operate a range of plant such as Grader, Roller, Excavator, Loader, Backhoe, Skidsteer and undertake general labouring duties.

Mandatory and Highly Desirable Qualifications and Licences:

To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you will be able to meet the below mandatory requirements for the role:

Maranoa Regional Council Verification of Skill Level to Competently Operate Plant (Grader, Roller, Excavator, Loader, Backhoe, Skidsteer)(In-house assessment)

• Current LR (Light Rigid) Class Driver Licence
• General Construction Induction (White) Card

The successful candidate will possess:

• Ability to perform manual handling and labouring duties for extended periods in direct sunlight, working in difficult terrain, walking on uneven ground, prolonged sitting whilst operating plant / machinery hand and foot controls.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of mobile plant and equipment within a construction/maintenance environment, in particular, the use of a Patrol Grader.
• Demonstrated ability to construct and maintain Council's sealed and unsealed roads and other assets to agreed service level standards and design specifications.
• Ability to follow direction and complete tasks within allocated timeframes to required standards.
• Intermediate leadership skills with the ability to provide direction to the construction site team.
• Demonstrated ability to work productively both within a team environment and unsupervised.
• Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Council's values and team goals.
• Previous experience working in local government, construction/maintenance or similar environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Position Details

• Position based in Mitchell, QLD
• Full-time position - 38 hours per week
• Maranoa Regional Council Certified Agreement 2023 - Stream B - Level 6 - 8
