The opportunity

Vacenti is seeking a Part-time Nursing Assistant of to join the Clinical Team, who can work Monday to Friday from 06.30H to 14.30H or 09.00H to 17.00H at our Portofino facility located at Hamilton, QLD. Reporting to and working closely with the Clinical Manger and Facility Manager, in this role you will provide care to residents under the direction and supervision of registered staff including a Registered and/or Enrolled Nurse acting within their scope of practice. The Nursing Assistant works as part of a team to ensure Vacenti consistently achieves high-level person-centred care and services.

The Nursing Assistant assumes responsibility for acting as an advocate for all residents in the home through active reporting of any concerns expressed by the resident or their representative and by proactively reporting any identified changes in the resident’s condition.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting residents with personal hygiene and care such as bathing, grooming, dressing, bowel, and bladder care
  • Take and record residents vital signs and weight.
  • Observe and record residents’ condition, food, liquid intake and other behaviours, and report changes to supervisor.
  • Assist residents with mobility i.e., walkers, wheelchairs, and other devices.
  • Make beds and maintain clean and safe environments for residents.
  • Lift, transport, and move residents using the appropriate techniques.
  • Treat all residents, family, and other visitors with respect.
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations.

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care or working towards same.
  • Experience in caring for the elderly in either a community or aged care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of professional care.
  • High level spoken and written English literacy skills.
  • To be considered for this opportunity you must have the right to live and work in Australia. If you are successful, you will be required to obtain a national police clearance prior to commencement.
