The R.I.S.C. Association is a small, well regarded recreation service supporting men and women who have a range of disabilities to participate actively in community leisure activities of their choice.
Previous experience is not a requirement and training in disability support is given. Students studying in social work, nursing, education, psychology and human services can benefit considerably from work in this domain.
Requirements:
- A positive and proactive attitude to the rights of people with disabilities
- Able to show creativity and innovation in resourcing new connections for the person being supported
- To personally recognise and value the benefits of active and interactive recreation for all members of the community
- Able to work effectively within the autonomous and decentralized nature of the role
- Uphold the high levels of integrity, conscientiousness and ethical practice we expect of our staff
Expectations of the role:
- high level of communication and interaction with the person being supported
- focus on assisting skill growth in recreation and independence skills
- enthusiasm and self motivation to assist in the development of social and communication skills
- capacity to source great opportunities in the local community to connect to activities and people
We are looking for people who feel that they have well developed skills in the areas of communication, recreation and education that would be transferable to this field.
A car and a licence are requirements of these positions, as will the possession or willingness to attain a First Aid Certificate and NDIS Worker Screening Card.
Positions are paid as per the SCHADS award. Pay rates range from $40- $45 per hour dependent on skills and shifts. Applicants need to be able to commit for a minimum of 12 months and able to work 3 - 4 shifts per week (3- 5 hours per shift).
