About the Role
The First Nations Health Clinician/ Social Emotional Wellbeing worker is an Identified position.
This position is intended to support improved cultural responsiveness and social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) outcomes for First Nations consumers admitted to the mental health Adult Inpatient service (AIS).
You will Work within the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Services, in collaboration with the Koori team, Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) and the Wilam Ngarrang Unit, to provide evidence based, culturally responsive SEWB assessments and support for First Nations consumers and their families and kin.
You will be a key part of an existing multidisciplinary team, providing direct support to consumers during their admission and in collaboration with (VAHS).
In addition, you will promote holistic discharge planning to support a seamless transition to the community. You will also provide education to the AIS team to support improving SEWB outcomes for First Nations Consumers.
Duties
- Engage with First Nations consumers, families, carers and or external community supports i.e. (VAHS) within three days of their admission to the Koori Team under SEWB admission.
- Contribute to assessments of First Nations consumers and actively promote the inclusion the families, carers and or external community, with emphasis on social and emotional wellbeing needs.
- Identify referral pathways, and support engagement with these pathways, working collaboratively alongside the Koori Team.
- Complete Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Formulation assessments for First Nations consumers.
- Consult with community regarding Social and Emotional Wellbeing model and other experts of the field to ensure competency and cultural safety and appropriateness.
- Design, develop and facilitate the delivery of specialised resources and training that relate to the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Model for the Mental Health Department.
Classifications for this position will range from Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 Year 1-2 or Allied Health equivalent (SW 2/OT2)
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse classification will range from NP81 - NP82 ($100,932.00 - $103,812.80 per annum pro rata)
- Social Worker classification will range from SC21 - SC24 ($90,234.60 - $103,724.40 per annum pro rata)
- Occupation Therapist will range from VF6 - VF9 ($90,235.60 - $103,724.40 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
- Of Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander descent - this is an identified position in accordance with the Equal Opportunity Act (2010).
- Bachelor of Nursing or Allied equivalent with minimum 2 years' experience in relevant acute mental health/community setting.
- Current practicing certificate (AHPRA registration).
- Nurses should hold a post registration qualification in Mental Health (or relevant overseas qualifications).
- Allied Health should possess mental health experience in a relevant acute mental health/community setting.
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
