Lead strategic commercial operations in the Defence training sector

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead commercial operations for major Defence contracts, driving revenue, growth, and strategic partnerships while ensuring compliance and financial success.

As Commercial Manager TTS, you will lead a high-performing team overseeing financial, contractual, and strategic operations for TAFE’s $850M+ Defence contracts. You’ll drive commercial growth, manage subcontractors, and ensure compliance across national partnerships.

Your expertise in contract administration, security, and pricing will enhance efficiency and strengthen Defence relationships. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Defence training while contributing to TAFE’s ongoing success in the sector.

Selected Duties:

Drive commercial outcomes to ensure contract success and growth opportunities.

Negotiate contracts to maximise value and outcomes for TAFE.

Standardise pricing models for Defence training and commercial services.

Manage IP rights and usage in contracts, projects, and programs.

Enhance procurement and supply chain strategies across Defence contracts.

ABOUT YOU

Skills & Experience

Bachelor's in Business Administration/Management with relevant experience, or extensive experience in Administration/Business Management.

8+ years in commercial management or a mix of legal and commercial experience.

Proven ability to achieve project outcomes.

Strong commercial management or law expertise with practical application.

Solid commercial knowledge and experience.

Understanding of intellectual property law and its application.

Defence industry experience preferred but not essential.

Willingness to travel and work extra hours with approval.

Must be an Australian Citizen to be able to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.

Desirable:

Experience with government contracting (e.g., ASDEFCON) preferred.

Commercial/Contract management qualifications desirable.

Experience managing Australian Defence Force contracts.

Strong background in developing and managing professional support services.

Proven ability to collaborate with leadership to drive improvements aligned with strategic goals.
