The role:
As a Principal Review Officer you will manage your own file load, reviewing original insurers', inspectors' and delegates' decisions and considering information to make independent and prompt administrative decisions about workers' compensation entitlements and other regulatory decisions. Your day will involve communicating with parties, reviewing factual and medical evidence, claim discussions, and drafting detailed review decisions.
As a decision maker you will consider all available information, relevant legislation for the Queensland workers' compensation, work health and safety, electrical safety and labour hire licensing schemes and case law to make evidence-based determinations on your files.
You will:
- Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
- Display empathy while objectively communicating, liaising and negotiating with stakeholders.
- Apply the requirements of procedural fairness to ensure appropriate release of information.
- Accurately record and maintain your files and records.
- Be solely responsible for managing a file load of various highly complex file types.
- Apply up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law and correctly apply this information to your files.
- Identify and analyse relevant information through efficient assessment and evaluation of the evidence to reach a determination on the review outcome.
- Ensure decision making is logical, impartial and evidence based.
- Write high quality decisions which are clear and succinct, detail the evidence considered and effectively explain the justification for your conclusions to all parties.
- Appropriately identify reviews of scheme wide importance, sensitive or high-profile in nature and refer these for quality review.
- Provide support to the leadership team including but not limited to quality assurance, training and coaching of other team members, reviewing and developing internal policies and procedures on technical matters, and participating in projects.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote a culture of support and accountability, and actively lead by example to ensure behaviour is in accordance with the values, vision and code of conduct.
