Bendigo Heritage Attractions (BHA) is seeking an experienced Spray Painter / Sandblaster to work in our brand-new, state of the art sandblasting and paint shop facilities at the Bendigo Tramways Workshop.
Founded on one of the world’s richest goldfields, Bendigo is a vibrant regional city with a strong arts, culture and food scene. A not-for-profit organisation, BHA is responsible for the management of Bendigo’s leading heritage tourist attractions: Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Tramways and the Bendigo Joss House Temple. In addition to tourist operations, BHA also runs a successful manufacturing arm at the Bendigo Tramways Workshop, undertaking restoration and tram repurposing projects for a range of clients.
As a Coatings & Workshop Technician you'll actively contribute to a range of projects at the BHA Workshop including sandblasting, spray-painting and other workshop tasks in a cost efficient and timely manner to a high standard.
The Coatings & Workshop Technician duties include:
- Undertake preparation work including sanding, masking, plugging, and setting up.
- Undertake surface preparation and coating applications.
- Application of various industrial coatings including two pack and enamel using spray equipment.
- Undertake sandblasting activities.
- Conduct basic cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work with contractors to ensure equipment meets service requirements.
- Assist with all areas of the workshop including maintenance and restoration work.
- Assist the delivery of internal & external works on commercial projects.
- Contribute to proactive and reactive activities within the workshop, BHA sites and assets.
- Assist with quoting projects.
- Other tasks as required within skills and experience.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Certificate III – Surface Preparation & Coating application (or similar) or at least three years’ experience in sandblasting and painting.
- Ability to mix paint and follow quality assurance requests.
- Understanding of the different classes of Blast profiles.
- Ability to follow specific work instructions.
- Forklift licence, White Card, and any other licences are an advantage.
- High level organisation and time management skills, with proven attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills – MS Word and Excel, SharePoint, email, and internet are an advantage.
- A strong can-do attitude and a willingness to take on tasks outside of the primary scope of sandblasting and painting when required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Current driver’s licence
- Working with Children Check (Mandatory)
- High Risk Work Licence – Elevated Work Platforms (or willingness to obtain)
- Working at Heights certificate (or willingness to obtain).
