About the role
This part time position is 3 days per week and will continue until the end of the school year with the possibility of continuing in 2026. The successful candidate will have laboratory experience, ideally within a school environment and the key responsibilities are:
Maintain an efficient and orderly system for storage and allocation of materials and equipment.
Ensure laboratories, preparation and storage areas are clean and orderly at all times.
Liaise with science teaching staff regarding requirements for practical work, setting a priority system where necessary.
Assist science teaching staff with demonstrations and activities as required.
Work co-operatively with science leader to acquire materials and resources required to meet curriculum needs.
Prepare and maintain relevant documentation and monitor practices across the College in accordance with OHS and other legislative compliance.
The successful applicant must have or obtain a Working With Children (WWC) check.
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated capacity to provide high level support to teachers and students and prepare materials for science experiments in a secondary college
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and procedures relevant to safety practices in science laboratories
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships working in a team environment
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and to take on emerging duties as the College develops
