If the answer is yes, read on! We’re looking for a male Support Officer to join our collaborative and proactive Target 120 team. Target 120 has been designed to work with at-risk and recidivist young people and their families to reduce offending behaviour. This is achieved through coordinated case management of all services, including across the government and non-government sector. We're not looking for an ordinary candidate - we need someone with a sound understanding of Kimberley culture and a passion for youth advocacy.

Key Duties

• Work under the supervision of the Program Manager, alongside the Department of Communities' Community Youth Officers (CYO) in a collaborative way to engage with the young people and their families as identified by the program
• Establish trusting and supportive relationships, providing family-based support, mentoring and assistance with program activity development and delivery
• Provide a point of contact and a source of information for youth and families at risk and who are participating in the program
• Link in with other services who can assist and build the support circles available to the family unit
• Provide responsive and flexible case management support to families and youth at risk who are participating on the Target 120 program
• Provide advocacy, support, informal counselling and preventative initiatives to families and young people to address identified issues affecting the family unit
• Develop culturally safe programs for young people that assist them to address issues contributing to offending behaviours
• Ensure a proactive service approach to ensure strong client - service relationship

Skills and Experience

We want you to be successful in your new role! This means you'll have:

• Comprehensive knowledge of culture in the Kimberley region
• Case management experience
• Extensive knowledge of issues affecting youth
• Demonstrated experience working with children and young people
• Understanding of community development principals
• Demonstrated experience planning, implementing and evaluating programs and/or activities
