About the Role
As an EL 1 Specialist Technical Accounting Advisor, you will work alongside the Director of Financial Reporting to enhance reporting compliance and processes, ensuring the organisation maintains a strong financial standing.

Your in-depth knowledge of Financial Reporting Rules (FRRs) and Australian Accounting Standards (AASBs) will be critical in advising on technical accounting issues and providing strategic solutions to contemporary challenges.

What You Will Do

• Develop technical accounting position papers and policy requirements in line with Australian accounting standards and Commonwealth guidelines.
• Liaise with external auditors on technical accounting matters and audit-related topics.
• Develop strategies and policy positions to address audit issues raised by external auditors.
• Provide advice on planning and research for Financial Statement preparation and Year-End Audit.
• Offer support with other ad-hoc accounting policy and advisory tasks as required.

What You Will Bring

• Active Baseline Clearance.
• Extensive experience (10 years) in accounting and auditing at the management level in large organisations.
• Senior-level experience in contemporary accounting practices, particularly in a government accounting framework (Commonwealth or State/Territory jurisdiction).
• Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Auditing.
• Professional accreditation with a recognised Australian accounting body, such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.
• Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Commonwealth Accounting Rules, and Auditing Standards.
