About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at Mount Compass Hotel in Mount Compass, SA. As a key member of the kitchen leadership, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of our hotel's restaurant. This is a casual position with the opportunity to work a flexible schedule.
Availability for both weekdays and weekends is required for this casual position.
What you'll be doing
Assisting the Head Chef in the overall management and supervision of the kitchen team
Overseeing the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals in line with the restaurant's menu and standards
Participating in menu development and recipe creation to enhance the dining experience for our guests
Enforcing strict food safety and hygiene protocols to maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen environment
Providing hands-on training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and expertise
Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and managing the efficient use of kitchen resources
Collaborating with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery
What we're looking for
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar supervisory role within the hospitality industry
Formal culinary qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning, and cost control
Excellent time management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
A passion for creating exceptional dining experiences and a commitment to delivering high-quality service
Ability to work effectively in a team and mentor junior kitchen staff
Current Food Safety Supervisor certification or willingness to obtain one
Australian work rights are required for this position
