Business Development Manager – Excavator & Truck Wet & Dry Hire (SE QLD)
Location: based from Cleveland depot 55 Enterprise Street Cleveland

We are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to help us grow our footprint in the region.
About the Role
As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving business growth through proactive prospecting, relationship building, and account management within the construction and civil sectors.
You’ll take ownership of the full sales cycle—from identifying opportunities to converting them into ongoing projects—while maintaining strong ties with clients, operators, and internal teams.
You’ll be hands-on: equally comfortable developing forecasts in Excel as you are on-site in steel-capped boots discussing site requirements with project managers.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Sales
Identify and pursue new project and client opportunities within construction, civil, and infrastructure sectors.
Identify, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including site managers, procurement teams, and major contractors.
Manage the entire sales process—from initial contact to proposal to close.
Prepare and deliver professional quotes and proposals that align with client needs and company objectives.
Achieve and exceed KPIs related to client visits, cold calls, and sales conversions.
Client Engagement & Account Management
Conduct regular call cycles, site visits, and telesales activities to strengthen customer relationships.
Provide ongoing major account management and ensure customer satisfaction.
Handle conflict resolution and maintain a professional image and relationship with clients on-site.
Operational Coordination
Recruit and onboard operators and drivers as required to meet project demands.
Maintain and contribute to the company’s Quality System and compliance processes.
Conduct and participate in performance reviews to support workforce development and retention.
Planning & Reporting
Update and manage the Customer database with accurate client and project information.
Plan and prioritise weekly activities to maximise coverage and results.
Use Microsoft Office (especially Excel) to track performance and report on pipeline activity.
Identify market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
Marketing & Strategy
Support and implement marketing campaigns and techniques to generate qualified leads.
About You
You are a confident communicator and natural relationship builder who thrives in a sales driven environment.
You know how to uncover client pain points, propose effective solutions, and close deals that create long-term value.
What you bring:
Proven experience as a BDM, Account Manager, or Sales Executive in the construction, civil, or equipment hire industry.
Strong knowledge of wet and dry hire operations (excavators, trucks, and plant machinery).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to plan, prioritise, and execute tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and CRM systems.
Understanding of marketing and sales techniques relevant to construction and hire services.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
