About the role
Reporting to the Taskforce Lead, the Manager Compliance & Investigations will have a background and experience in leading investigations culminating in enforcement interventions (including submission of briefs of evidence for legal proceedings in the criminal, civil, and tribunal jurisdictions), using a range of risk-based compliance and enforcement tools and approaches. The role includes managing a team of Senior Compliance Investigators whose role is to undertake compliance review and investigations into significant breaches of consumer law and to contribute to compliance and enforcement actions. The Manager Compliance & Investigations is required to manage a team of staff to ensure the delivery service are aligned to CAV's regulatory priorities and objectives.
Key Accountabilities include
- Lead, support and develop a team of compliance and enforcement staff, providing clear direction, setting performance expectations, coaching for capability growth, and proactively managing workload and wellbeing. Foster a high-performing and collaborative team culture aligned to organisational priorities and legislative obligations.
- Provide authoritative and strategic advice on case management and litigation pathways, drawing on sound judgement, risk assessment and contemporary regulatory practice to support effective decision-making by senior leaders and legal partners.
- Offer advanced technical expertise and mentoring on complex and sensitive compliance matters, including guiding staff through evidence assessments, enforcement options, negotiation strategies, and the management of high-risk or high-profile matters.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Relevant knowledge of and/ or demonstrated experience in legislative enforcement activities particularly in relation to consumer protection legislation and policies.
- Conduct and lead complex civil and/or criminal investigations.
- Ability to prepare and support enforcement proceedings in Courts and Tribunals including preparing witness statements, civil/criminal briefs of evidence.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations using a legislative framework.
Other requirements
- Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent is required. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Law or other related fields may be considered.
- Previous investigative experience is required.
- Minimum five years previous investigative and compliance/enforcement experience.
