About the role

The Business Services Manager (BSM) manages the finance and business services of the Business Services team. Services include finance, contract management, human resources, IT, assets and facilities, administration, and workplace health and safety.

The role reports to the Executive and plays a key role in the checks and balances of the organisation’s policies, practices and compliance points across the business, providing this oversight on behalf of the Executive Director.

The role is responsible for the planning, implementing, managing and controlling of all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organisation. This includes direct responsibility for budgeting, expenditure control, financial risk management, project accounting, auditing, statutory compliance, and financial performance reporting and evaluation.

The BSM plays a critical role in developing and implementing business strategies, financial plans, modelling and reporting. The role also works as a part of the senior management team that makes strategic decisions about the business.

The BSM has at least five direct reports and plays a ‘hands on’ role managing the day-to-day work of a small team across all functions. A key function of the role is developing the skills of the team and ensuring high-quality output of the team’s work.
