A permanent full-time opportunity has become available with Blue Dog Training, an award-winning Australian owned training provider in Construction and Engineering.
This is a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced VETiS Trainer (with Cert IV in Training and Assessment) OR an experienced tradesperson (engineering / mechanical / construction) looking to move off the tools.
As a Vocational Trainer, you will travel to schools in and around the Townsville area to deliver valuable learning experiences to secondary school students studying entry-level Certificate I and II trade-based qualifications.
You will join an established team of very successful trainers that share a passion for passing on their skills to the next generation and enjoy ongoing training, mentoring and support, along with regular events and workshops.
Duties include:
Organising and delivering training and assessments to secondary school students, together with associated administration and compliance functions.
Inducting students and school representatives as part of the enrolment process (explaining processes and demonstrating website and online learning tools).
Liaising with secondary school teachers, principals, students, government bodies and industry associations to discuss training methods and progress.
Responding to questions, providing coaching/support and resolving issues.
Working as part of a team to continuously moderate, develop, review and enhance training resources and work processes.
Associated training, assessment and administration tasks as required.
This role requires a patient and engaging communicator that is keen to support students to learn and achieve their best. To be considered, you should demonstrate:
Eligibility to obtain a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card P).
Experience or qualification in construction or metal-based trades.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or interest in completing this qualification).
High level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and successfully resolve issues for stakeholders.
Confidence learning and using computers.
Willingness to travel to regional schools when necessary to deliver training and assessment services, as well as attend trade shows and other events within the region.
Willingness to maintain industry and TAE currency and participate in professional development.
Blue Dog Training is committed to facilitating safe, supportive and friendly environments where children and young people are valued and actively participate in Vocational Education and training (VET) courses. Child protection, wellbeing and inclusivity is at the forefront of every action taken and decision made and it is a mandatory requirement that applicants have (or are eligible to obtain) a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card). Additionally, applicants must be able to provide at least one referee that can confirm their commitment to child safety and wellbeing values and standards.
Join a well-respected and well-recognised Queensland training company and encourage, influence and support our next generation of trades people. The base rate for this position is $90,000 - $100 000 per annum plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience if you already have your TAE). Package also includes motor vehicle, mobile phone, laptop and 8 weeks annual leave (work from home base and in-school training).
