Head Chef – Hello, Stranger

Hello, Stranger, located on Gilbert Street in Adelaide, is a neighbourhood cafe known for its vibrant Asian-inspired flavours, classic comfort dishes, and some of the best coffee in town. We take pride in using locally sourced ingredients to create a memorable dining experience for our guests.

We are currently seeking a qualified and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, staff management, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and consistency.

Position Details

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to $80,000 per year + superannuation (commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage daily kitchen operations and team members

Plan and execute innovative, seasonal menus

Maintain cost control, budgeting, and waste management

Uphold high standards of food presentation, hygiene, and safety

Collaborate with management to deliver an exceptional customer experience

Requirements

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (Diploma or higher in Hospitality preferred)

Minimum 1 year of proven experience as a Head Chef

Strong leadership and organisational skills

Creative flair and a passion for modern, flavour-driven cuisine

Sound knowledge of kitchen operations and dietary requirements

Australian citizen or permanent resident preferred
