Policy Officer
At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners - from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.
- Temporary Full-Time until 3 July 2026 with possibility of extension
- Located in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
- $142,504 Package includes salary ($113,574 - $125,720), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
About the role
The role supports the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a portfolio of strategic policy projects, to achieve project outcomes, and support achievement of organisational objectives.

About you
- Experience with drafting ministerial correspondence, written reports, briefings and other requested documentation for review or submission to senior officers.
- Analytical capability to interpret complex information and data, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making
- Experience with preparing and maintaining project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of project outcomes
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Adaptability and experience working in a high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to manage competing priorities
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
