About the role
Murray Local Land Services is seeking a Senior Biosecurity Officer to assist in the delivery of Animal Biosecurity and Welfare programs, as well as assisting in Invasive Species Work and Travelling Stock Route programs on a need’s basis in the Murray region.
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate biosecurity professional to help drive critical on-ground delivery of animal biosecurity and welfare programs in southern NSW. If you’re ready to step into a role that’s as diverse as it is rewarding – this is your opportunity.

This role will see you:
- As an Animal and Welfare senior biosecurity officer with LLS you’ll be part of a supportive and experienced team of veterinarians and Biosecurity Officers who undertake in the field disease investigations and work with stakeholders to enhance prevention, preparedness, detection and response activities for animal biosecurity and animal welfare
- Lead and deliver animal biosecurity and welfare programs and undertake compliance activities
- Support emergency response and recovery efforts
- Conduct surveillance, field investigations and build strong working relationships with landholders, stakeholders and other agencies
- Contribute to proactive education and outreach, increasing local capacity to manage biosecurity risks
- Working with livestock producers to develop and implement management programs to eradicate footrot from their flocks.
- Enjoy a role that offers a variety of functions from NLIS implementation at saleyards to liaising with peri urban producers across the district.
- Be a part of supportive team of professionals to support best practice livestock systems.
What we’re looking for:
We want someone who can work independently in the field, communicate clearly with landholders and stakeholders, and is passionate about protecting the agricultural and environmental values of our region.

Essential:
- Current NSW Class C Driver Licence and willingness to travel
- Relevant pesticide accreditation and willingness to obtain Cert IV in Government Investigations
- Ability to meet requirements to be an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act.
- Capacity to hold a NSW firearms licence or equivalent, and a Statement of Attainment (to Use Firearms to humanely destroy animals AQF AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304)
- Strong understanding of animal biosecurity issues
