Your new role

Full-Time fixed term 18-month contract located at Deakin, ACT

Annual Salary $99,885.91, plus Superannuation, NFP Salary Packaging, Paid Christmas closure and other generous leave provisions under our Enterprise Agreement.

The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) Trainee undertakes a Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution and supports individuals and families by providing information, education, and mediation services under supervision.

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Training Coordinator, the Trainee is expected to:

· Assist in delivering Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) services in line with the Family Law Act 1975 and RACR policies.

· Support intake, assessment, and screening processes, including risk assessments and safety planning for family and domestic violence cases.

· Provide information, referrals, and facilitate access to support services.

· Assist with outreach services, group programs and community education programs.

· Attend and participate in regular professional supervision.

What you’ll need to succeed

1. Experience and qualification in the field of Law, Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Dispute Resolution or Social Science.

2. Commitment to obtain:

a. A Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution (or higher education provider equivalent);

b. FDRP accreditation with Attorney-General’s Department.

3. Understanding of family and domestic violence, crisis intervention models, grief and loss in the context of family separation, and child development, with a willingness to develop practical experience in these areas.

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and adults experiencing conflict, family violence, and/or grief, and a commitment to learning best practices in these interactions.

5. Ability to take initiative and learn to manage priorities, with support, while developing skills in judgment and workflow management.
