About the Position
Responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, the position offers a significant degree of autonomy whilst ensuring the accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries. The position will play a lead role in coordinating payroll activities including complex payroll related enquiries and processing, upholding appropriate levels of quality, and ensuring consistency and compliance is met in line with appropriate legislation, enterprise agreements, regulations, policy and procedures.
About You
The successful candidate will be provided the opportunity to shape and influence our payroll service, through the provision of fair, consistent, precise advice, guidance and support to the Payroll Officers, as well as broader Finance and HR department on payroll specific matters.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience leading and coordinating end to end payroll processes within a medium to large scale organisation;
- Experience mentoring and guiding team members;
- Experience in providing confidential, complex administrative support at a level that requires a professional approach with an emphasis on meeting deadlines, problem solving, and delivering exceptional customer service;
- Continuously challenging payroll processes and methods to ensure contemporary practices and tools are considered and where applicable implemented;
- Undertaking timely internal and statutory reporting as well as end of year and ad-hoc reporting;
- Developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, both written and verbally, listen and assess the needs of customers and liaise with a wide range of people, both internal and external to the organisation;
- Experience working within Local Government and the Technology One payroll system would be highly regarded.
