So, what's the role?

As an Asset Protection Officer you’ll directly contribute to the protection of valuable council assets within the public realm, including our trees, footpaths and kerbs. You’ll be working at the interface between private development and valuable community assets, making a positive difference in the amenity, safety and well-being of the Prospect community.

This role undertakes condition assessments of street assets before developments commence, provides education and guidance to property owners, tenants, developers, and the public on their responsibilities related to building works, and holding contractors accountable by working to see damage rectified as quickly as possible without unnecessary cost to the community.

Here's what you’ll dive into:

Identifying and proactively monitoring works by third parties that may impact upon Council’s assets

Conducting inspections of building sites for safety and compliance, assess breaches and public liability, seek rectification and/or cost recovery

Conducting site dilapidation reporting, which includes assessing and documenting current conditions of Council infrastructure.

Inspecting and enforcing infrastructure and/or public realm occupation deeds of agreement

Are you vigilant and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to compliance and safeguarding valuable assets and infrastructure, then you could be the perfect fit for this role!

Do you have 5 years’ demonstrated experience exercising statutory compliance powers within a community setting (which may include a regulatory services role, community policing role, environmental officer role, or similar).

Are you able to work independently and autonomously, but also support the general inspectors where necessary?

Are you versed in building community trust and confidence in Council’s approach to service delivery?

Have you got solid ‘hands on’ experience with a fine eye for assessing, reporting and documenting?
