The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Risk Specialist to join our client's Major Projects Office. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in driving and enhancing the maturity of risk management across a significant portfolio of major infrastructure projects, embedding an effective risk culture and implementing best-practice risk management frameworks.
As a Project Risk Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with Risk Management Framework and ISO 31000:2018 principles across all major projects. This position is ideal for a risk professional who is passionate about building risk capability, providing specialist advice, and contributing to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework and ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Principles and Guidelines across all major projects
- Contribute to embedding a risk-based assurance model where identified project and portfolio risks inform planning and execution of assurance activities
- Develop, implement, and maintain project risk management processes, templates, and guidelines to support effective risk management
- Provide specialist risk advice, facilitation, and support to major projects throughout all stages of the project lifecycle
- Conduct risk awareness and management workshops at project and portfolio levels to support decision making
- Ensure effective risk management at portfolio level, including risk identification, qualitative and quantitative analysis, evaluation, management, communication, presentation, and dashboarding
- Coordinate and conduct Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRAs) and scenario modelling to support contingency allocation
- Support major projects in maintaining and monitoring an effective risk and control environment
- Build and enhance project risk management capability through education and awareness activities
- Provide risk oversight and reporting at project and portfolio levels to management, committees and stakeholders
- Support preparation and collation of information, holding stakeholders accountable to ensure activities and responses meet business objectives
About You:
- Degree qualification in business, project management, finance or allied discipline (or lower level qualification in relevant discipline coupled with significant experience in project delivery environment)
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and application of Risk Management Frameworks in large-scale infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience in application of a range of risk management techniques, consistent with international and Australian risk management standards and best practice
- Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and educating others in risk management methodologies, principles, tools and techniques, specifically within large-scale project environments
- Demonstrated ability to support preparation and collation of information and hold stakeholders accountable to ensure activities meet business objectives
- Working knowledge of complex infrastructure projects with specific experience in development and implementation of risk management practices
- Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate risk assessment workshops at both project and portfolio levels
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in use of proprietary software systems (e.g. LogicGate, Hexagon, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar) used in project risk management
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
- Certified Practising Risk professional with membership of the Risk Management Institute of Australasia
- Experience in energy/infrastructure sector
- Experience with risk-based assurance models
