About the Opportunity
The SWSLHD Aboriginal Child and Family Service supports vulnerable families in South West Sydney and is unique both in terms of its model of care but also its resourcing. The service has antenatal, sustained home visiting, allied health and paediatric specialist components all of which are embedded in a cultural framework that supports strong clinical governance.

The Aboriginal Child and Family Service Manager is responsible for leading this dynamic service and its multidisciplinary team. The position will also be responsible for the establishment of partnerships with internal and external stakeholders that support access to health services for Aboriginal families in South West Sydney.

The role requires an Aboriginal person with a commitment to embedding culture in practice and experience managing multidisciplinary teams that support clients with vulnerabilities.

About the Team
The Aboriginal Child and Family Service has a large multidisciplinary team comprising of Aboriginal Health Workers, Child and Family Nurses and Allied Health professionals.

A leadership team exists that includes the Service Manager, Nursing Unit Manager and Social Work Team Leader responsible for ensuring cultural integrity and strong clinical governance.

The service is built around a sustained home visiting model whereby Aboriginal Health Workers and Nurses work in care coordination teams to support vulnerable families with children aged 0-5 across the South Western Sydney region.

SWSLHD operates it’s services on the lands of the Dharawal, Darug and Gundungurra lands and has a rich history of working alongside local Aboriginal communities. SWSLHD has long established partnerships with Aboriginal Organisations in our region that are critical to the way we operate and deliver our services.

The Aboriginal Child and Family Service is based within Primary and Community Health but is networked in as part of the larger SWSLHD Aboriginal Health Service. The Service Manager will be part of the Aboriginal Health Leadership Team that includes Aboriginal Managers from across a range of services.

You will have access to established supervision structures including clinical supervision, cultural supervision, and peer supervision. We offer a wide range of cultural supports across the service including mentoring from experienced Aboriginal Leaders, training and development opportunities as well as a large workforce of Aboriginal colleagues.
