About Us
Be part of a high-impact team driving the reconstruction of public infrastructure across NSW. As a Senior Infrastructure Officer, you'll play a critical role in supporting communities affected by natural disasters through the assessment of infrastructure recovery funding under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
This is a technically focused role, ideal for professionals with qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying or construction. You will apply your expertise to assess infrastructure damage, validate scope of works and ensure compliance with DRFA guidelines.
Note: This is not a finance or grants administration role, it requires technical judgement and field experience in infrastructure recovery.
What you'll do
Lead detailed assessments of complex DRFA funding submissions, ensuring compliance with technical standards, eligibility criteria, and value-for-money principles.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical and compliance issues in funding applications.
Maintain robust documentation and reporting to support audit readiness and transparency.
Prepare insightful reports on program performance, compliance trends, and infrastructure recovery outcomes.
Mentor junior officers and provide technical guidance to ensure consistent and accurate assessments.
Contribute to governance frameworks and process improvements, including opportunities for infrastructure betterment.
About you
You're a detail-oriented, analytical thinker with a strong background in engineering, construction, or infrastructure delivery. You thrive in dynamic environments and bring a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
You are a qualified Engineer or Quantity Surveyor who meets the definition of a Suitably Qualified Professional (SQP) under the DRFA. Your experience in infrastructure damage assessment, cost estimation and scope validation (ideally in a disaster recover context) makes you a trusted contributor. Your technical expertise enables you to assess complex reconstruction projects and contribute to betterment opportunities.
Essential Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in funding assessment or infrastructure recovery. Must meet the criteria of a Suitably Qualified Professional (SQP) under the DRFA - typically a qualified Engineer or Quantity Surveyor with relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience in infrastructure damage assessment, reconstruction funding, and scope validation.
In-depth knowledge of the DRFA and related disaster recovery frameworks.
Proven ability to analyse complex policy and funding challenges and deliver evidence-based recommendations.
