Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Heavy Vehicle Diagnostic Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, fault-finding, repairs, and maintenance on heavy vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform complex diagnostics and repairs on heavy vehicles, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Use OEM diagnostic equipment and software to identify faults efficiently.
Conduct scheduled maintenance, inspections, and roadworthiness tests.
Accurately document findings, repairs, and parts used in the company’s maintenance system.
Provide technical support and guidance to apprentices and junior technicians.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technology and training related to heavy vehicle systems.
Qualifications and Experience
Certificate III or higher in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification).
Minimum 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience in diagnostics and repair of heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, or plant machinery).
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with modern diesel engines and electronic control systems.
Proficiency in using diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins INSITE, Volvo Tech Tool, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, etc.).
Valid driver’s license (HR or HC preferred).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Attributes
OEM certifications or factory training (e.g., Cummins, Volvo, Scania, Caterpillar).
Air conditioning accreditation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
