Electrician – Maintenance (Port Pirie) | 3 month contract

Join our team at ICE Engineering & Construction for maintenance and project works at Nyrstar, Port Pirie. We’re seeking qualified Electricians with a strong safety focus to support ongoing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades across the smelter and plant facilities.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for:

Performing electrical maintenance, repairs and fault finding on plant and smelter equipment.

Conducting inspections and preventative maintenance on motors, switchgear, MCCs, drives, transformers and lighting systems.

Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults using testing and diagnostic tools.

Carrying out new installations, wiring, equipment upgrades and commissioning.

Ensuring all work complies with site safety standards, permit-to-work and isolation procedures.

Participating in shutdowns, turnarounds, and project work.

Complying with site policies including clean-shaven and non-smoking requirements.

Participating in regular blood testing for lead levels.

Mandatory Requirements

Unrestricted SA Electrical Licence

Right to work in Australia (citizen, resident or valid work visa)

Current Driver’s Licence

Fit for work – able to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening

Ability to work in a Major Hazard Facility and comply with safety standards

Commitment to safe work practices, permit systems and lock-out/tag-out procedures

Ability to work onsite at Port Pirie (residential or DIDO)

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience in heavy industrial, mining or smelting environments

Knowledge of HV/LV systems, motors, drives and PLCs

High-Risk Work Licence (WP, EWP, Forklift)

Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics

Inexperienced but motivated electricians with a willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.

Proof of Electrical Licence

Proof of Right to Work in Australia

Driver’s Licence

High-Risk Work Licences (if applicable)

Current Training Records: Working at Heights, Confined Space, CPR/LVR, White Card

Completion of pre-employment medical, respirator fit test, and ICE/Nyrstar inductions.

Current National Police Clearance.
